We record the sermon during the 11:00 service for those who want to listen but are unable to attend.
Below are the sermon recordings and sermon notes from the last few weeks.
April 23: Slow of Heart
Scripture: Psalm 116:12-19, Luke 24:13-27, Luke 24:28-35
Jesus describes the two disciples on the road to Emmaus as "slow of heart." Faith involves both our head and our heart, but often it is our heart that is the slowest to turn to God. What do you think gets in the way of your heart turning to God?
April 16: Belief, Grief, Fear, and Acting
Scripture: Luke 23:44-49, Luke 23:50-56, Luke 24:1-12
How do we respond to the astounding reality of first Christ's death, then his resurrection? When we read the end of the crucifixion story at the same time that we read the resurrection story we realize that the people who were there reacted diversely, How do you respond to the reality of Christ's death and resurrection?
April 9: Recognizing the Things That Make For Peace
Scripture: Psalm 118:19-29, Luke 19:29-38, Luke 19:39-46
In the Gospel narrative, the day of Palm Sunday is a day of stark contrasts. The crowd seems to be filled with joy, while the religious leaders are filled with fear, anger, and venom. Why this great disparity? Why the blindness in some and the sight for others? Jesus even asked the religious leaders this great question, "If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace!" Do we recognize the things that make for peace or are we blind as well?
