COTTONWOOD  PRESBYTERIAN … A PLACE FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN

WELCOMING CHILDREN IN WORSHIP

Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Mark 9:37

We believe at Cottonwood that worship is an essential way we learn what it means to be Christian. By enabling children to worship with their families, and the larger church family, every Sunday, they learn that they belong to Christ and are welcome in his church. They learn the Lord’s Prayer, participate in communion, witness baptism, and other parts of the liturgy.

In addition to the enrichment they receive in worship, Children’s Church School reinforces church worship and follows the Liturgical calendar. They hear stories from the Bible read and interpretted. They are enriched by the beauty of music and art as expressions of praise and as their responses to God. They build a store of the accumulated shared experiences of Christian community from which they may draw when they are older. They discover that they are valued as persons by God and by the people of God.

The photos were taken during the Advent season. Each Sunday in Advent the children made doves that represented hope, peace, faith, and love. They presented their home made church offering boxes which went to support mission in the community. The children sang for the congregation on the eve of the Hanging of the Greens and Sunday church service.

The children’s choice for Summer Church School is to again do activities that will focus on mission projects in the Church and the community. The activities will run during June, July, and August. All children are welcome.
